Role: Telecommunications Analyst

Location: DFW Airport, Texas, 75261 Onsite



General Summary
Under supervision of the Sr IT Telecommunications Manager, provides technical expertise to ensure that telecommunications and network facilities are sufficient, appropriate, and functioning well. Ensures that data, voice, and voicemail systems perform at optimum and cost-effective levels.



Principal Duties And Responsibilities

1. Determines causes of systems malfunctions and directs or performs corrective actions.
2. Monitors, logs, tracks, and resolves hardware and software deficiencies, notes failure patterns and tendencies; recommends preventive action.
3. Advises Board departments of potential disruptions in service that may affect voice mail and telephone services.
4. Reviews requests for service, evaluates whether requested services fall within guidelines and ensures hardware and software availability and compatibility.
5. Maintains professional proficiency in the latest technologies and state of the art in voice and data communications.
6. Develops telephone system and voice mail requirements for new Board facilities; designs related communications facilities.
7. Installs telecommunications systems in new or remodeled Board facilities.
8. Identifies and acquires appropriate test equipment and spare parts inventory for network support.
9. Maintains ongoing contact with telecommunications users to ensure problems are resolved.
10. Provides project management and coordination.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electronics, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Three (3) years of experience working with digital network systems.
• Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
• Possession of a valid class C driver's license.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge of the theory, principles, practices, and techniques of operating and maintaining telecommunications systems and equipment.
• Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with electronics work.
• Knowledge of advanced radio-communication technology, fiber optic transmission technology and digital telephone transmission and switching.
• Knowledge of current voice processing technology.
• Knowledge of current computers and computer network applications including structure, architecture, and standardization.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of project management.
• Skill in utilizing advanced mathematical methods and computer modeling.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings.
• Ability to analyze problems and to make recommendations that address maintenance requirements, manpower availability, contractual obligations, and Airport Board policies and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people inside and outside the organization.
• Deploying a cisco voice solution
• This roles is especially changing NEC to Cisco

Desirable

• Experience with NEC telephony.
• Experience with Voicemail systems.
• Experience with SIP and TDM voice services.
• Experience with Microsoft TEAMs technology.

• Works in an office environment, and at various Board facilities.
• Uses keyboard devices and computer monitors.
• Uses reasoning in problem solving and analysis.
• Uses near-visual acuity.
• Performs moderately complex mathematical calculations
• Exchanges information by telephone, computer, in writing, and in person.
• Drives to locations on and off airport property.
